It’s the night before the first day of filming. It’s 7:52 p.m.…I should be sleeping. I have to get up at 3:30 a.m. pickup starts at 4:30 a.m.
There will be 10 of us on location tomorrow…only one actor. It should be a short easy day. We hope. We want to ease into the work.
The crew of Howard University film students arrived yesterday. They saw a bit of the island today after a pre-production meeting with the rest of the HAMA team and the local interns. The film students are an energetic bunch. They appear ready to work and experience a new country and culture. They are also documenting their experience here with a behind the scenes video. Interesting observation, three of the four crew members are women. Lorriane will be the script continuity supervisor, Jasmine is camera assistant, Andrea is on sound and Stephen (another Steve) will be the gaffer/grip. They will be shadowed by our local interns.
One of our lead actors Brent Simon got very sick earlier in the week, he suspects it’s something he ate. He had to be taken to the hospital. He was kept over night for observation and released. He is fine now but for a moment, we all held our breaths as we watched him get taken away in an ambulance from rehearsals. When he was released Brent kept apologizing for his illness. I pray that we all stay healthy.
Speaking of healthy, rest is an important part of it so I’m off to bed….Lights…Camera…zzzzzzzzz
